Remember When Toby Keith Had a Mullet?

Toby Keith has mostly gotten a pass when it comes to conversations about famous mullets. Billy Ray Cyrus and Michael Bolton tend to dominate these conversations, but the head of hair Keith sported on the cover of his 1993 self-titled debut album has to be amongst the Top 5 Redneck Coifs of all time. Is that a perm?
Sure, 20 years ago we didn’t think anything was strange about Keith’s Tennessee top hat. But much like old episodes of ‘Saved By the Bell,’ this hairdo from 1993 only makes us laugh in 2012. Watch the entire video of ‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy’ (pictured above) and try to keep from chuckling.
Fortunately only a few representatives of the Ape Drape era remain. If you’re watching this video thinking “What’s wrong with his hair cut?” it may be time to duck into a BoRics. To his credit, Keith has always been a man of the times, and his current ‘do is very fashionable. At least we think it is. Come to think of it, when was the last time anyone saw him without a hat on?
