Toby Keith is taking his daughter Krystal under his wing as she sets out on her recording career. The up-and-coming country songstress, who will use her father's last name professionally instead of her legal name Covel, is preparing to record an album under her dad's (partly owned) label, Show Dog Universal Music.

Krystal's forthcoming album will be produced by her dear ol' dad and Show Dog executive Mark Wright. According to a report from MSN's One Country, Row Fax reveals that the music men are looking for "fun, young tempo [songs] and rangy ballads in the vein of Jo Dee Messina, Pam Tillis [and] Martina McBride" for the 26-year-old to belt out on her record.

This may be Krystal's official solo debut, but she isn't a novice when it comes to performing country music. She teamed up with her father in 2004 for a remake of the tune 'Mockingbird' for Keith's 'Greatest Hits 2' compilation, and the song reached No. 27 on Billboard's Top Country Songs chart.

In the past, Keith has told his daughter that he would help her launch her own career, but only after she finished school. Not a bad father-daughter deal, if we don't say so ourselves!
