The best country songs of 2017 get played so often, the album art starts to singe itself into the screen on your phone. These ten songs include established hitmakers, country newcomers, a RISER and a debut single in the Top 5.

Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town seem to park themselves on Top Country Songs lists each year, and 2017 is no different. Each has a spot on this first edition of our Top 10 list, with Urban's duet with Carrie Underwood trending upward to No. 1. It's going to be difficult to top the best-selling song of the year so far, however. Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" crossed over to pop radio, making it a no-doubter to remain one of the best picks come December.

But can Hunt keep a hold on No. 1? One group of newcomers have a throwback sound that is a throwback so fresh it sounds original again. Sure, things could shuffle around, and we believe new music from Kelsea Ballerini and Chris Stapleton could make a push. This edition will no doubt feature songs that last all 12 months. Our Top 10 Songs of 2017 are flexible to how the year develops.

The Taste of Country Top Country Songs of 2017 list is determined using sales and radio airplay data, reader feedback and staff opinion. Any song that spent the majority of its chart life in 2017 is eligible.

    "Better Man"

    Little Big Town

Little Big Town's lead single from The Breaker album tells of a busted relationship from a different perspective. Singer Karen Fairchild isn't drowning in pity during this No. 10 song on our best songs list. Instead she's confidently stating the cold, honest truth.

    "Never Gets Old"

    Joe Nichols

Joe Nichols‘ new single isn’t perfect, but Nichols’ delivery absolutely is. It’s seductive in a non-sexual way. The boom-click rhythm burrows deep into the soul and you’re daydreaming about an equal love. “Never Gets Old” is the traditional-leaning country song that comes around every year or two that just feels right, despite sounding unlike anything on the radio. It’s a gift.

    "You Look Good"

    Lady Antebellum

How can you deny Lady Antebellum's comeback hit? The funky, horn-driven lovers' song was put on steroids for the 2017 ACM Awards. It was a landmark moment for the return of one of country music's groups, and a fresh step forward.

    "Love Triangle"

Few songs have done as much to change lives in 2017 as "Love Triangle," the lead single from RaeLynn's Wildhorse album. Steady sales and slow chart movement are not what usually make a top song of the year, but the power and performance of this honest song helps it rise up. It's her finest moment.

    "Tin Man"

    Miranda Lambert

"Courage" is a theme found often on year-end lists of the best country songs, and Lambert's willingness to release (and by extension, perform) this emotional song from The Weight of These Wings is the word defined. She'll no doubt end many performances in tears. Lyrically it's among her all-time best.

    "The Fighter"

    Keith Urban (Feat. Carrie Underwood)

Two country superstars come together for a collaboration that sounds anything but forced. Underwood once again proves she's as good as a complement as she is a headliner. "The Fighter" is tremendous fun, and an easy pick for the Top 10 Songs of 2017 list.

    "It Ain't My Fault"

    Brothers Osborne

You may not appreciate why the new single from Brothers Osborne is the perfect summer song until you hear it through car stereo speakers as you speed down some late-night highway. “It Ain’t My Fault” is an example of a song that sounds best on the radio. If you haven’t quoted their chorus at least by fall, you aren’t doing it right.

    "Drinkin' Problem"

Midland's "Drinkin' Problem" was tabbed as the next great song that would never stand a chance on country radio, and then the darndest thing happened. Quickly it started to leap up the charts, with fans and the industry behind it (and the Texas-based trio) at every turn. The pure, undeniable country throwback feels right on this Top Songs of 2017 list.

    "In Case You Didn't Know"

    Brett Young

Brett Young's slow, sexy and sensitive ballad from his self-titled debut album defines his style as a singer and songwriter. The relative newcomer has recorded the wedding song of 2017, one that's sure to last well into the 21st century.

    "Body Like a Back Road"

    Sam Hunt

Strong sales, quick ascension up the charts and tremendous hype helped put Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" high on this list of the Top 10 Songs of 2017. It's the best-selling country song and a Billboard record-breaker for 25 weeks atop the Hot Country Songs chart. All things considered, is there any doubt?
