Trisha Yearwood went back to her roots with a pair of book signings in Georgia over the weekend.

The singer and her sister, Beth Bernard, recently published a cookbook titled Trisha's Table: My Feel-Good Favorites for a Balanced Life, and they promoted the release with an in-store appearance at Williams-Sonoma in Atlanta's Ponce City Market on Saturday (Aug. 29), signing for four hours without a break.

On Sunday (Aug. 30) they appeared at another signing in their hometown of Monticello, Ga., which ended up running for eight straight hours, with the sisters signing 1,500 books. One woman traveled more than 700 miles from Delaware to attend the event, during which Yearwood and Bernard traded recipes and success stories and shared family memories with fans.

The new book focuses on a balance between classic Southern recipes and lighter fare. It's Yearwood's third cookbook, and it debuted at No. 7 on the New York Times Bestseller list. “This book [reflects] how we eat more of the time,” Yearwood told Dan Rather during an interview earlier this year. “And then, on the comfort foods, there are some things you just can’t substitute. You just say, ‘I’m havin’ the macaroni and cheese today … and I’m gonna enjoy it.’ But the rest of the time, we show you ways to make things lighter.”

Those lighter dishes include dairy-free angel hair pasta with avocado pesto and vegetarian smashed sweet-pea burgers. There are also some heartier recipes for foods like Georgia pulled pork, chocolate chip cookie dough balls and chicken tortilla casserole.

“I have adopted an 80/20 rule when it comes to my delicate relationship with food: 80 percent of the time I make good choices; 20 percent of the time I let myself splurge a little,” Yearwood says. “I think about food all the time, so making peace with eating is a daily battle for me. I won’t say I’ve completely figured it out, but I will say that right now, I win that battle more days than I lose it, and I believe that’s the key."
