Between customers, Garth Brooks would write music, turning out at least one of his hits amongst selling Justins and the Luccheses. Mid-90s hitmaker Ken Mellons tells the story of running into Brooks as both tried to fit cowboys and cowgirls in boots of just the right skin and color.

"He gave me his business card, and I still have it today. I thought that was pretty neat, and a few months later I’m driving down the road and hear him on the radio," Mellons says. "Now he’s one of the biggest things that ever happened to country music. I guess I can say I met him, you know, back when.”
