Blake Shelton's new single "Every Time I Hear That Song" is an aching ballad that finds the singer getting nostalgic at the sound of a familiar melody. The oft-used story line is brought to life with Shelton's big country voice and catch chorus.

The People's Choice Awards nominee's "ooo ooo ooos" are the song's signature. As with so many songs on his If I'm Honest album some will wonder if he's singing about events from his past. But Shelton didn't have a hand in writing "Every Time I Hear That Song" and the further away he gets from said events the less believable that rumor is.

The track is arranged in the key of Blake — a slow shuffle that carries a spoken-word verse and emotional chorus. Shelton is a true country crooner and with each subsequent single he proves it.

Did You Know?: "Every Time I Hear That Song" was co-written by Aimee Mayo who also co-wrote Lonestar's "Amazed."

Blake Shelton, "Every Time I Hear That Song"

There's something 'bout yesterday / How fast it all flies away / I don't know what it is about a goodbye kiss that makes you wanna stay / We were crazy then we were over / We were breaking up, making love, a runaway roller coaster.

Chorus:
Every time I hear that song / I'm standing in the pouring rain / On your front lawn and ooo-ooo / I still think about you ooo-ooo / Every time I hear that song / It's like the first time it came on and ooo-ooo / I still think about you ooo-ooo / I still think about you.

There's something in the bittersweet / The feeling of a memory / Right there in the moment / All I ever wanted was you and me / We were crying, we were wasted / We were dying when they played it.

There's a soundtrack in my mind / That takes me back in time / When I hear that melody / I think about you and me.
