There were no shortage of country music news stories to grab one's attention in 2011, but Blake Shelton's marriage to Miranda Lambert was the reader's choice for 2011 Taste of Country Headline of the Year award. The May 14 ceremony in Texas was a star-studded affair, but according to reports the reception was as comfortable and humble as any country girl could dream it to be.

Shelton and Lambert became engaged in May of 2010 after dating for over three years. The couple admit they had their ups and downs, and Shelton took some extra time to decide he wanted to be married again after his first marriage ended after just three years.

The couple have helped each other professionally, as well. Lambert sang backup on songs like 'Home,' and the two have co-written songs for each other and for Lambert's all-female trio, Pistol Annies.

Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina's dating status headline finished a distant second in fan voting. Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw's Brothers of the Sun Tour announcement came in third, followed by Jason Aldean's collaboration with rapper Ludacris and Rascal Flatts Gary LeVox co-writing a song for the late Caylee Anthony with Cledus T. Judd. Shelton and Lambert grabbed over 42 percent of the votes, taking a hold of this category early.

The Headline of the Year award is one of four 2011 Taste of Country Awards for Shelton. It's the first for Lambert.
