Blake Shelton Looks to Reba McEntire for Decision Making Support on ‘The Voice’ Tonight
Once again, country singer Blake Shelton was full of quotable quips and one-liners on tonight's episode of 'The Voice,' where two singers on each coach's team engaged in a vocal battle after being mentored by their coach. The coaches had the very difficult task of eliminating one of their team members, and were allowed to offer commentary on other teams' battles. Shelton got an assist from Reba, who was advising him and his team members in this phase of the competition.
It was open season for Shelton. When Frenchie Davis and Tarralyn Ramsey battled for Christina Aguilera, Shelton pulled a 'Rocky' metaphor out of the back pocket of his jeans, saying, "I felt like I was watching 'Rocky.' Frenchie is Apollo, beating up Tarralyn as Rocky, but with that last note, she came and punched like Rocky." It was an appropriate way to put it, that's for sure.
For his own team, Shelton pitted country singer Patrick Thomas against Tyler Robinson for Elvis Presley's 'Burning Love,' telling the men to make him believe they are a "hunka hunka burning love."
Shelton ultimately elected Thomas, who is a crooner after his own country heart! He also said that "the runs are a bad thing" when assessing the battle, and while we don't disagree with Shelton about the discomfort factor present in such situations, the metaphor had us scratching our heads for a hot second. We're not sure who or what caused him to think about the runs, but then again, we don't really endeavor to understand Shelton's mind all of the time.
Shelton deemed Casey Weston's voice "addictive" and suggested fellow coach Adam Levine keep her. He also bet that Cee Lo Green made a mistake when he pitted his two team members against one another, since both were that damn good.
Overall, though, Shelton certainly provided some more comic relief to 'The Voice,' and with Reba serving as his back up, he could mold his "kids" into quite a team.
