Chris Young is among some of the multiple nominees for this weekend's Academy of Country Music Awards. Young is nominated in two categories this year: Male Vocalist of the Year and Single Record of the Year for his chart-topping hit 'Tomorrow.'

So if the 26-year-old singer could walk out of Mandalay Bay with just one of the trophies in his hand, which would it be?

"If I could take one home, it would be either of them," Young tells Taste of Country with laughter. "I don't really care. Obviously being in the Male Vocalist category is such a huge thing. I'm really happy to be there, and I'm honored to be nominated in it."

However, Young says it's the Single of the Year nod that means the most. "I woke up the next day after we wrote 'Tomorrow,' and called [my co-writers on the song] Anthony [Smith] and Frank [Myers] and said, 'This is my first single. This is so far my favorite song I've ever written,'" Young recalls. "And I still believe that. It did everything it was supposed to do as a leadoff single on the new record. It has been one of the best-selling singles I have ever had. I think that would be really cool if I got to take home the Single of the Year award. I wouldn't be mad about it [laughs]."

But Young knows he has some stiff competition in the category, including Toby Keith's 'Red Solo Cup'; Jason Aldean's 'Don't You Wanna Stay'; and Eli Young Band's 'Crazy Girl.' So he isn't making his list of people to thank should his name be called Sunday night. "I'll probably look like an idiot [if I do win]," smiles Young. "That will make really good TV because I have no clue what to say if I ever get up there for any reason. I refuse to [write an acceptance speech] ... that's like jinxing it, so I'm not going to think about it. I'm not going to write something down. So I will probably be the guy who gets up there and goes, 'Uhhhh ... yeah ...' and then I forget to thank somebody like my mom!"

Young, who has already spent the past few days in Vegas where the awards will be held, enjoys being in Sin City during ACM week and testing his luck on the blackjack tables. "I like to gamble, so I'm sure at some point I will be sitting at one," jokes Young. "We've got a couple of private shows while we're out there and of course we'll have the radio remotes while we're out there. Then the whole day of the ACMs is sucked up with walking the carpet and getting ready. I don't know if I'm really going to have a lot of downtime this time to get into any trouble in Vegas. Usually you get to go hang out with everybody. I'm sure, since it's basically Nashville West there at ACMs, I'll see everybody. I've already talked to Miranda [Lambert] about hanging out with her and Blake [Shelton] while we're out there. It's really just one of those things where everybody from Nashville is out in Vegas to party. It's like we've moved Music Row to the strip. That's really what we do."

Tune into the 2012 ACM Awards Sunday night (April 1) at 8 PM ET on CBS to see if Young is a winner. And of course, stay tuned to Taste of Country for live updates throughout the awards, as well as the next day for complete coverage, photos and more!
