The Dixie Chicks put their own spin on Beyonce's brand new country-styled song "Daddy Lessons" over the weekend. At a tour date in Manchester, England, on Saturday night (April 30), the trio debuted the song on their new DCX MMXVI Tour.

The first performance of the song live for the Dixie Chicks, "Daddy Lessons" started with a slight hiccup. After a minute-long instrumental introduction frontwoman Natalie Maines admitted that she forgot the melody.

"All right, hold the phone. I've already messed this whole thing up," Maines said. "What's my melody on the first verse?"

Despite the mistake, Maines and bandmates Martie Maguire and Emily Robison continued the song flawlessly with spot-on vocals and fiddle accompaniment. "Daddy Lessons" is off Beyonce’s new album, Lemonade, which she released on April 23. Following her surprise album drop, the pop icon garnered some criticism from country music journalists questioning her song selection. While the Dixie Chicks are no strangers of being slighted by the press, their cover showcases that the song "Daddy Lessons" itself embodies the storytelling and instrumentation of the country genre.

On Monday morning, the Chicks extended their current DCX MMXVI Tour, which was announced in November. They were originally scheduled to visit 40 cities throughout North America, but thanks to tickets being in high demand, they have added several dates. The trio's trek now includes over 50 dates throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The Dixie Chicks' DCX MMXVI Tour marks the band's first tour in over a decade.
