Jason Aldean Fights Away Tears While Accepting Artist of the Year Honor at the 2011 American Country Awards
Jason Aldean hid a tear or two under his black cowboy hat as he accepted the 2011 American Country Awards' honor for Artist of the Year. Miranda Lambert presented the award to Aldean, which was his second of the night until the announcer let fans in Las Vegas and viewers at home know the 'Tattoos on This Town' singer had also won four other awards, for a total of six.
In addition to Artist and Album of the Year, Aldean was voted the winner of Single of the Year: Male, Single of the Year: Vocal Collaboration and Touring Headline Act of the Year. It was somewhat predictable that Aldean would win, as he was the only nominee in attendance. Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, and the Zac Brown Band weren't heard from all night.
"I don't know what else to say. It's been a crazy year," Aldean said. In addition to headlining a major summer tour and earning praise and awards for his most recent album, 'My Kinda Party,' the singer was nominated for the Entertainer of the Year Award at last month's 2011 CMA Awards. He no doubt feels vindicated taking home the top honors at this fan-voted on show.
