Kelsea Ballerini turned to social media on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) to announce that she has gotten engaged!

The rising country star posted a video to Instagram on Sunday evening, explaining that on March 12 she met Morgan Evans when they hosted an awards show together.

She then added a photo of her embracing Evans and holding out her ring hand to show off her engagement ring.

"This morning, 9 months and 13 days later, he got down on one knee in the kitchen while I was burning pancakes and asked me to marry him. Loving him has been the greatest gift of my life. And now I get to do it for life. #HECALLEDDIBS," she writes.

Australian-born Evans is a singer-songwriter who released his self-titled debut album in 2014. He’s toured with Alan Jackson and Ballerini's mentor, Taylor Swift. According to his biography, he relocated to Nashville, “where he has been writing with the A-list of songwriters for his upcoming US debut release and recently made return performances to CMA Music Fest and the Grand Ole Opry.”

Ballerini is on a roll both personally and professionally. She has scored a string of three consecutive No. 1 hits from her debut album, The First Time, with "Love Me Like You Mean It," "Dibs" and "Peter Pan," and her current single, "Yeah Boy," is already burning up country radio. Ballerini earned a nomination in the all-genre category of Best New Artist in the upcoming 2016 Grammy Awards alongside fellow country newcomer Maren Morris.

She and Evans shared photos online from a romantic getaway to Paris in October.

It's been a Christmas of several big surprises in country music; early in the day, Kacey Musgraves announce her engagement, and Sunday afternoon Ashley Monroe revealed she is expecting her first child.
