Country pop sensation Taylor Swift may be one of the most successful musical artists in the world, but that success comes with a price. In a new interview, the 22-year-old (23 on Dec. 13) 'Red' hitmaker says she has been the object of more and more stalker threats over the past few years.

"I get nervous when I have stalker incidents," Swift tells Cosmopolitan UK. "I try not to talk too much about it because it scares me. Sometimes you get a dude who kind of wants to steal you. That's why I'm so grateful I have people looking after me, like [my bodyguard] Dennis."

The superstar adds that the threat has increased as her career keeps on reaching new heights. "Over the past couple of years it's got worse," Swift acknowledges. "I get told if there's been an attempt or a threat. My security text me a picture and say, 'Look out for this dude; he's driven across the country, he's off his meds,' or something like that. No one has ever been successful in getting into my house or anything like that. I have an amazing security team."

Despite her fears, the multi-platinum singer-songwriter doesn't intend to live her life around stalkers. "There are a lot of them. I just try to be safe and be conscious of people around me," she relates. "It's something you just have to deal with. It's the price you pay for getting to do what you love. You can let it take over your life and make you fearful all the time, or you can live your life in spite of it."
