Taylor Swift gets a lot of press for doing nice things, but on Monday (June 11) she received a formal award for her good deeds. The starlet was handed the 2012 Honorary Star of Compassion award by the Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services, a Tennessee nonprofit group dedicated to disaster relief and education.

If you know anything at all about the 'Mean' hitmaker, you probably aren't surprised that she's now winning awards for her kind heart. So far this year, Swift has invited a young cancer patient to attend the ACMs with her, offered encouragement to a sick teenager who invited her to prom, extended her sympathies to the family of a fallen soldier and made a 12-year-old Make-A-Wish Foundation recipient's dream of meeting Swift come true. That's a lot of good deeds for a busy celeb!

Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

"Taylor Swift has inspired the small community of Northwest Tennessee with her uplifting words and music of encouragement and has become a positive role model for the young and old alike here," said Rob Adcock, Director of Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services in a statement. "It is with great honor and appreciation that we present this one of a kind,  jeweled award to such an outstanding individual on behalf of our organization."

Congrats to Ms. Swift! It's quite an honor to be recognized by your home state.
