'The Giver' trailer is finally out, and superstar-turned-actress Taylor Swift makes her debut as the character Rosemary in a (very) brief appearance.

Fans of the singer have been eagerly awaiting a glimpse of Swift ever since her part in the film was announced. Although her role is small -- and her part in the trailer is even smaller --  she explains that it was perfect for her.

"The role in the movie is a character named Rosemary," Swift shares. "It’s the ideal situation for me because it’s a great cast, incredible movie, wonderful script, amazing director, small role."

While Swift was filming in South Africa, she was spotted with brunette locks, and the trailer confirms that the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer indeed went dark for the movie. The clip shows her sporting brown hair that seems to have a tint of auburn and parted down the middle.

The star's role in the film came about in a very unexpected way. While on her 2013 Red Tour in Los Angeles, a few movie executives were scouting her out, unbeknownst to the songstress, and apparently, they liked what they saw.

Adapted from the beloved young adult novel by Lois Lowry, Swift's name lies among the film's A-list actors Jeff Bridges (who was in all of her scenes), Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard and Katie Holmes on 'The Giver' roster.

The haunting story of 'The Giver' centers on Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community.

'The Giver' hits theaters Aug. 15. And, if you missed the very brief appearance Swift makes in the trailer, we've got the image below.
