One of those is rhythm guitarist, utility player and backing singer Cheyenne Dalton Meyer, who confirmed that she was fired. Also departing from the band is her husband, bassist Jimmy Meyer.

Details are sparse about Jimmy's departure from the band. But in a social media announcement she shared last week, Cheyenne confirmed that she was "let go" and that the news was "unexpected."

Neither she nor Top have given any reason why she was let go from the band.

What Did Cheyenne Dalton Meyer Say About Being Fired From Zach Top's Band?

Cheyenne says she was removed from the band "a little over a month ago," putting her exit somewhere in March.

"I'll miss all of the fun, playing great music, and meeting every one of you," she continued. "I couldn't have done this without all of your kindness and encouragement. You all built up my confidence, and I have transformed into who I am today because of you!"

She also hinted that she might release music of her own as an artist at some point.

"Although I'm not sure what comes next, I'll still be here posting my daily life," Cheyenne wrote. "...Who knows, maybe someday I'll put out some of my own music for the world to hear."

How Long Did Cheyenne Dalton Meyer Play In Zach Top's Band?

In a social media post from June 2024, Cheyenne said that she, Zach Top and her now-husband Jimmy Meyer all met while playing the bluegrass circuit. She's known Top since approximately 2018.

Jimmy started playing bass for Top in 2020 or 2021, Cheyenne continued, and she originally worked as the "merch girl" at his shows.

At the time, Cheyenne didn't play guitar, though she did play mandolin and fiddle. She'd go on to play both those instruments as a utility player during his headlining set, but in order to get her gig in the band, she needed to be able to fill the roll of guitar player, too.

"The guitar player that he used to have is my sister-in-law, actually, and I knew she was kind of wanting to step back and do something different with her music," she continues. "...I was like, 'Well, if I have to learn guitar to play with him, I am absolutely going to do that.' So I had one month to learn guitar and learn a 90-minute set of music."

Cheyenne started playing with Top's band in 2023.

Who Replaced Cheyenne Dalton Meyer and Jimmy Meyer in Zach Top's Band?

Country music is a little more polite in public than some genres, but that doesn't mean the gloves don't come off in private. We tend to assume all of our favorite country artists are good friends with their bandmates, but when they go their separate ways, sometimes the truth turns out to be very different.
