Blake Shelton Goes Crazy for ‘The Voice’ Contestant Singing Dierks Bentley [Watch]

Blake Shelton has just landed a new team member on The Voice, thanks to an audition that had him exclaiming, “It’s about damn time!”

24-year-old Angie Keilhauer auditioned for the popular reality singing competition by singing Dierks Bentley‘s “I Hold On,” and Shelton was only one of the judges who were impressed enough by her performance to turn their chairs around; Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams also wanted to draft the aspiring singer for their teams.

Keilhauer is originally from El Salvador, and she now resides in Marietta, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta. She took the stage with guitar in hand to sing the song, which derives from Bentley’s Riser album. Before they asked her to decide on a team, the coaches asked her family — which includes six sisters and two others — to join her onstage.

“Your family happens to be louder than the whole audience out here,” Williams said.

“You kept getting better and better as the performance went on,” Levine observed. “And I kept believing you more and more. And there’s this raw break in your voice that happens that’s so impossible to control for most people, and you control it so well.”

“There’s something very undisciplined about how you performed,” Shelton added. “You are wild! … And to have a girl take that approach in country music, it’s about damn time it happens!”

After careful deliberations, Keilhauer decided to go with Shelton as her coach — not a bad choice, since he has repeatedly coached singers to victory on The Voice.
