Sam Hunt had the top song last month, but a new superstar is No. 1 on October's list of the Top 40 country songs. 2015 will close with new albums from Carrie Underwood, Chris Young and more. To look at this list is to look at some of the best of what country has offered this year.

Young's "I'm Comin' Over" jumps 13 spots in October, leaving him tied for the biggest leap with Tim McGraw's new song, "Top of the World." That doesn't count Thomas Rhett's new song, however. The "Crash and Burn" singer was at No. 3 last month, and he's at No. 10 this month, with a different song. "Die a Happy Man" could become his fastest-rising single.

Find Chris Janson, Cam and Brett Eldredge in the Top 10, but it's a familiar face at No. 1. This Entertainer of the Year nominee has the sales, the radio airplay, the critical acclaim and the fan love to grab a top spot and hold on, perhaps beyond October 2015.

The list of Top 40 Country Songs of October 2015 is compiled from Billboard chart data and sales figures, in addition to staff opinion and reader feedback.
