Eric Church paid a very special tribute to NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt during his concert in Greensboro, N.C., on Friday night (March 15).

Church performed his hit "Talladega" in his set on Friday night at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, and before he sang it, he brought out a black-and-red flag with Earnhardt's trademark No. 3 and his signature screened onto it and proudly held it up in tribute to the racing legend, who was a native North Carolinian. North Carolina is also Church's home state.

Like Dale Sr., Eric Church Is a Bada--! Watch:

Earnhardt was one of the most iconic race car drivers in NASCAR history, and he's a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. He was killed in 2001 in a collision that took place at the Daytona 500. Earnhardt drove the trademark black-and-red No. 3 car for most of his career.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr., turned to social media to thank Church for the tribute after fans repeatedly shared photos and videos online.

"Dad would love this. All his fans and family certainly appreciate the respect @ericchurch," he writes.

Church wrote the wistful song with Luke Laird and released it as the fourth single from The Outsiders in 2014. It reached No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

Friday's performance was the first night of a two-night stand in Greensboro that Church is performing as part of his 2019 Double Down Tour, which features him and his band performing back-to-back shows in each market with unique sets each night. On Friday morning Church announced eight new cities have been added to the tour, extending the run of dates into the fall.
