The recent interview highlighted the characters Oriana and Carter from the acclaimed show, drawing intriguing comparisons to fan-favorites Beth and Rip. The actors reflected on these parallels, suggesting that any similarities emerged naturally, rather than being a deliberate design. Expressing appreciation for being compared to such beloved characters, they underscored their focus on maintaining their characters’ uniqueness.

Watching the show has turned into a family event for the cast members, creating an engaging way to connect with loved ones. One actor shared, “I watch it when it comes out,” and revealed that family screenings have become a cherished tradition. The experience has not come without its challenges, however, particularly when certain scenes provoke amusing reactions from family members during viewing parties.

When discussing their performances, the actors acknowledged the adjustments required when transitioning from actor to viewer. One mentioned the often-cut scenes that can provide additional layers to their characters. Reflecting on intimate scenes, they appreciated the way the show portrayed their characters with warmth rather than sensationalism.

Conversations turned to the dynamics of working alongside legendary actress Annette Bening. One actor described feeling a blend of excitement and intimidation, especially since Bening radiates a magnetic presence on and off screen. The camaraderie they found during their collaboration helped dissolve initial nerves, leading to meaningful discussions beyond acting and into everyday life.

The topic shifted to working with trained animals on set, including a real leopard named Zena. The actors noted the immense care provided for the animals and the professionalism of their handlers, which heightened the production's authenticity. They playfully discussed the leopard's on-screen presence, admitting that while they loved the animal, its temperament could shift dramatically—from majestic to intimidating in an instant.

Family dynamics brought further insights into their characters. Both actors shared that their personal families contrast significantly with the dramatic families depicted on the show. Yet, they acknowledged that certain family tensions—though not as intense as those between the Duttons and Jacksons—make for relatable storytelling.

As the interview wrapped up, a rapid-fire segment teased intriguing plot points for future episodes. Without revealing any spoilers, the actors confirmed suspenseful questions about their characters and the show’s trajectory, and they shared the exciting news that a second season has indeed been confirmed.

Fans can look forward to more character development and possibly even deeper connections within the expansive story. As the anticipation builds, viewers are reminded that while comparisons can be flattering, Oriana and Carter are carving out their own identity in this captivating narrative.

We've noticed a lot of our audience has really enjoyed comparing a little bit of Oriana and Carter's characters with like the flashback scenes of Beth and Rip. Did y'all discuss kind of a little bit of the parallel there or even like pull characteristics from them or is that just something that the audience has kind of grown on their own? Would you say? Um, we didn't really discuss that, but I think it was going to be really like inevitable with how our characters, you know, are. Um, yeah. I I think that's just a a sweet parallel that just ended up working out. Yeah. Yeah. I think I think for us too, like even though there are a ton of parallels between the two characters, they do feel like individualized characters. So, I think that feeding into if if we had sat down and discussed how we can make them similar, then it would have felt like we didn't have our own identity. And also being compared to Beth and Rip is one of the be like best compliments you could ever receive of all time. So I hope that that relationship develops more in a positive way towards Beth and Rip, but we still are able to kind of have our own thing as well. Yeah. Have y'all when you I'm assuming do you guys watch the show like live? Um yeah, I watch it when it comes out. Yeah. I I so everybody in my life are the biggest Yellowstone fans of all time. So when the original show is coming out, we'd watch it weekly. So I've been getting some of the previous screeners sometimes, not all of them, but some of them a little bit early, but then every Friday night, we've been doing like a little family sitdown and watching the show. So it's a combination of the two. Has there How was episodes three and four with your family? Three and four were a little bit. I watched it with my mom and her boyfriend and her boyfriend was like in the corner like I had to watch it with my mom covering it everything like oh my goodness. Yeah. Your mom going like, "Oh my gosh, that's my son." That's why No, I've seen my mom's an actress, too, and I've seen that woman have very similar scenes. So, this is just a little bit of paper. All of my sisters, we've all had scenes like this. So, it's like a girl thing within like the female element of the But I'm having to text all my uncles and my grandma to be like, "Just fast forward. Please, you don't want to see this. I don't want you to see this. We're having Christmas together next year." You're like, "Please get that image out of your mind. This can't be the topic at Thanksgiving." Yeah. Has there been something fun, and both of y'all can answer this, that obviously when you're acting, you're in it, but then when you watch it on screen, you're kind of now seeing it in the eyes of a viewer. Has there been anything that you've learned maybe about your character or you've seen differently being a viewer versus the actual actor portraying the character? Um, I mean, for me, I mean, I think that there anytime that you do like a movie or a TV show, I think that there are like even with this show, there are scenes that are cut a lot. So there are definitely scenes that uh are not shown that kind of show a different side of the character, but I obviously everybody involved with the show has a perfect vision and then you see it on screen and you're like that makes sense why that was cut or that makes sense why this story line is being told in this certain way. Um, but I mean for scenes for scenes like our our little intimate scene. Um, I think that there's so many different shots and angles when it comes together. That scene really warmed my heart because it felt very genuine and like pure and it didn't see it didn't feel uh over sexualized which I really appreciated. I agree with that. Yeah. Was there any, and I know Finn Carter's character has gotten to be, I mean, since the Yellowstone days, uh, both of y'all, this is a question for both. Is, was there any cut of like cowboying that you're like, "Dad gum, like I did XYZ, and that did not make the shot." You know what I mean? Any cowboying stuff? I bet there's been a few. Um, I don't know. Yeah. I don't know if there's anything specifically I could remember that I've been like, "Oh, I did that." But yeah. Yeah. I mean, for my character, she was supposed to be like top rodeo. She competes in every single rodeo. She is like standing on horses and doing back flips. They cut the entire thing from the season. Just kidding. No, that's fully lying. I'm just wanting to make myself seem a lot more impressive. That's a full lie. No. I'm I'm just going to start repeating. I do back flips off of horses. I pick up horses. I curl them. Um yeah, they just decided to cut all of it. Like they they didn't want me to be that woman. Okay, that that's season two. Season two, I'll be curling horses and riding cows. Actually, from your ears to God's ears. That's a real cowgirl right there. Um Finn, you and J Courtney are both from Australia. if I remember correctly. Have y'all bonded at all about being homesick? Is there that that feels like that's a unique bond there? Well, I mean, I only had the um so far I've only had the one scene with him in the motel room, but I'm not sure if you know this, I actually did a film, my first film I ever did in Australia was with Jai Courtourtney and he played my dad. I didn't know. Um and that was Yeah, that was like a loving, sweet relationship, lovely family movie. uh you know got to know him really well over those few months we filmed that and then you know come to Dart Ranch and he's some you know questionable stepfather kind of thing. So uh yeah definitely a different relationship dynamic there. That's wild. I And also you just I that's a beautiful example of you quite literally never know what atmosphere you're going to be put in again with with them. You could be playing completely different role which is fun and challenging probably at the same time. Yeah, Natalie, you getting to go alongside Annette Benning. One of our favorite scenes was you at the dining room table. I think it was I mean the first few episodes in walk me through I mean is sitting at a dining room table with Annette Benning like that intimidating? I mean you're sitting with a legend. Yes. I'm not even gonna try to say that it's not like I think that I called my mom on the way to set just that was one of my first scenes that I filmed too. We had done the rodeo scene at the beginning and that was an overnight shoot, but it was my first time doing a scene with Annette and I think it was my second day on set. And that was actually my testing and audition scene that I had done so many times. And what we did on set was so different than any way that I had rehearsed it um so many times prior cuz you kind of have to let it all go when you were in a room with Annette Benning because she brings so much to the table and her ideas and the way that she envisions characters is like a magician doing their best trick. Seriously, I mean, she she walks into a room and people just watch her like she she has this powerful force on and off screen, but she's the kindest person of all time. So, any sort of hesitation or um scaredness, I'm not sure if scaredness is a word that I had kind of melted away when we just were able to talk about what the scene was and talk about our relationship. And she she has been such an incredible mentor throughout this entire process. So just sharing the screen with her is a once in a-lifetime opportunity that um I will always be very grateful for. Yeah. How do you shoot the breeze with Annette? Like do you guys talk about nail products? Like what do you you know what I mean? I mean that's what goes through my head. I'm like how do you shoot the breeze with something like that? We talk about matcha a lot. She has like a very specific matcha routine and she has very specific ceramic mugs that she uses. Um but she also has kids my age. So, I mean, we just kind of talk about life and we talk about her up like everything under the sun. We've had discussions for I mean, it doesn't feel like you're talking to Annette Bennett when you're talking to Annette Bennett cuz when you're having a real conversation with her, she's just the most down to earth um kind person. And I I'm just so grateful. I'm I'm just so happy that it wasn't a uh circumstance where I was so nervous that I couldn't speak cuz she just makes you feel mad. There are certain people that I talk to that I'm scared to talk to that it kind of feels intimidating throughout the conversation, but she just has a way of putting people at ease, which I really am so grateful for. That's a gift for sure. Yeah. Y'all, we got to talk about the leopard. Was the leopard CGI or was it real? Zena, right? That was real. Zena. Yeah. Yeah. Zena, where are you? Francis. Yeah, I was team leopard. It did not have the full character arc that I was wanting this Leopard to have. Um, walk me through the I'm like, are you allowed to like how did we interact with the leopard? Did you guys get trained before? I mean, I felt like this little nugget had had its time on screen. I love it. No, that was a that was a no training kind of thing. That was a everyone stand back and we're going to bring it in on a big chain and lock it up and no one stand next to the cage. Yeah. And she's a pretty kitty. She's like a g I mean in life specific like in life in real life she was so beautiful until she starts chewing her bone and then it's terrifying like you you kind of she started growling that was Yeah. Yeah. You kind of want to lay next to her. She just feels like a big teddy bear and then you're like, "Oh, look at her teeth. That's not so cute." Actually, you could eat me alive. Sick. Okay, cool. Yeah. No, but she was so well behaved. And al also on this show there, all of the trainers and all of the cowboys for the horses, all of these animals are so loved and they're so well behaved like as well behaved. I feel like I'm talking about a child, but they're uh the the animal just respect on set is so massive. And just seeing the way that the handlers work with the animals and how loved they are and also just how uh how they can act on camera. I guess it's kind of crazy. I I have never seen anything like it. The Jackson family and the Dutton family, I feel like they both are just very much so these really big characters, really big families. Uh, did you guys draw from either one of your own personal families that you're like, you know, we're a little bit like the Dutton or like we're a little bit like the Jacksons. I can tap into this. No, my family is not like the Dutton at all. How are Describe your family? I would love to know. He has the sweetest of all time. Like his mom. Yeah, it's me and my mom and my dog. Oh, wait. Sweet. And Catherine, Catherine comes to Texas, too. And Catherine's on set. And Catherine's everybody's favorite person on set. She just walks around and she's like knows everybody's name. She's the coolest woman. Catherine is like a boss. Yeah. Sweet. And then Natalie, your family, what is your family dynamic like? I mean, uh, I'm trying to think if there's there are any tie. I mean, we're we come from an I I now recently have five new siblings cuz my mom is getting remarried, hopefully getting remarried. Um, are we like the Datons? I don't think so. I'd like to say yes, cuz the Dutton are badass and the Jacksons are badass, but I don't I don't think that we have any specific family ties. I think that family uh tensions and drama are similar, but not not the same not the same drama that the Jacksons and Duttons have. I would say fair. Last quick thing for y'all. I know we have to wrap up here. Um a little rapid fire. I know that you all can't spoil the ending. Um so this is literally just I've made a list of questions that I feel like the Dutton Ranch needs answers to and it's just yes or no. Will we learn the truth about Oriana's mother or no comic? No comment is an option. Yes. No. No comment. Uh, no. Uh, are we talking about it like ever or are we talking about in episode nine season one? No. Okay. Will Oriana be forced to choose between her father and Carter? No comment. I can't. I can't. I don't. No comment. This is my first season here. I can't I can't risk this. No comments. I need to make it to season two. Season two has been picked up and I haven't necessarily. Oh, okay. No, no, no. This it's yes, no, or no comment. There it's an option. Carter hasn't killed anyone yet. Will that change? Finn's no comment. No, no, no. No or no comment. I'll say that. Will we find two more? Will we Oh, well. Will we find out what happened to the leopard? I actually didn't mean to put that one. Um, actually, I'm pretty sure I can confidently say that one's no because they did they did have a little arc for us where we released the leopard and they they that that was a version, but that never we never never got filmed. And then last one, will there be a season two of Dutton Ranch? Yes. Is that that? Yes. Right. We can say that now, right? We'll say it. We've said it in like three different interviews. So, perfect. Well, Natalie Finn, it was so good to see y'all. Thank you for taking time. Good to see you.
