Carrie Underwood took the stage at the 2018 CMA Awards in Nashville on Wednesday (Nov. 14), giving an emotionally and musically powerful performance of her inspiring new single, "Love Wins."

A very pregnant Underwood took the stage in a blue gown, surrounded by somber, dark lighting as she opened the song. The stage lighting changed as she jumped into the more powerful chorus, sending multi-colored beams throughout the Bridgestone Arena as a full vocal choir joined Underwood onstage to deliver the inspirational message.

"Love Wins" is the second single from Underwood's new album, Cry Pretty, and though it addresses gun violence, among other contemporary issues, she says she and her co-writers tried to address the subject matter from a hopeful perspective.

"We weren't trying to speak negatively about our world, because we live in an amazing world, but I feel like we get really caught up in surface things and I feel like in this world, we're quick to get angry at each other," she says. "I personally think that we're all different for a reason. I feel like if you just sit down and talk to somebody who's not like you and keep it calm, we can all learn from each other."

In addition to giving one of the standout performances of the night, Underwood went viral at the 2018 CMA awards when she and her co-host, Brad Paisley, once again revealed the sex of the child she's expecting, just as they did in 2014. She is expecting another boy.
