Eddie Rabbitt’s ‘Radio Romance’ Turns 30
The late Eddie Rabbitt released his eighth album 'Radio Romance' on Oct. 1, 1982 via Elektra Records, so it's celebrating its 30th birthday today. It yielded two more No. 1 country singles for the singer, 'You and I,' -- a duet with Crystal Gayle and a crossover pop smash that was used as the theme song for a couple on the daytime soap opera 'All My Children' -- and 'You Can't Run From Love.'
Eddie clearly loved love, and it served him well, from a lyrical perspective.
The album certainly centered on romance, with the aforementioned title and singles, but there was also 'Good Night for Falling In Love,' 'Our Love Will Survive' and 'All My Life All My Love.'
'Eyes' were also a reoccurring lyrical theme on this particular platter, as there is 'Stranger in Your Eyes' and 'Bedroom Eyes.'
Love and eyes. Got it.
On a critical level, this wasn't the most "country" of Rabbitt's albums, as he had been drifting away from a pure country sound during this phase of his career. But it was another solid addition to the canon and yielded him two more chart-topers.
