Jerrod Niemann has retooled his Top 20 hit for the holidays. The Mistletoe Mix of 'One More Drinkin' Song' will appeal to those who've worn a groove into that spot on his 'Judge Jerrod and the Hung Jury' CD, but it doesn't offer more than a few chuckles to those who've already decided to pass on the song.

The chorus remains in tact, as Christmas is one of the better drinking holidays of the year. Gone is the "marga-daiquiri-screw-aloda-on-the-beach," however. That's fair -- something warmer makes more sense in the winter. Niemann misses his opportunity to invent a "Bailey-coff-nog" or something similar.

"Today I wanted to write a tune / To get you in that Christmas mood / So if you're stuck in traffic or some check out line / Or up in the attic untangling Christmas lights," he sings during the first verse. It's cute, but fans will be rewarded for sticking around to verse three. "So here's to naughty and here's to nice / Hopin' Santa won't check his list twice / And here's to the elves and the toys they've made / While all of us are just tryin' to get sleighed."

Often an artist will rewrite a song so it continues to receive radio airplay when stations begin punting hits for Christmas standards. It's difficult to deny that's what Niemann has done here, but the clever result makes up for what may have been an ulterior motive.
