Nicolle Galyon is one of the most successful songwriters in contemporary country music, but she stepped into the spotlight on her own for her recent debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

Gallyon has been one of Nashville's most ubiquitous songwriters in recent years, scoring a string of hits that includes Keith Urban's "Female," "Automatic" for Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney's "All the Pretty Girls," Camila Cabello's "Consequences," Dan + Shay's "Tequila" and more. Her cuts include songs recorded by Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line and many more of country's top artists.

Gallyon began as an accompanist at Belmont University before landing her first songwriting deal in 2007, and she also competed on Season Two of The Voice on Team Adam. But in the video above, she admits that being centerstage has never been her primary ambition.

"Singing, for me, and performing, for me, is really out of necessity," she admitted days before her Opry debut. "But I am so excited to get to show these songs in what I would call the purest form."

“My first experience with music was playing piano in church," she tells us. "So to get to sit down and play my own songs at a piano in the Mother Church was truly a full circle coming home for me."
