Blake Shelton Struggles to Add Team Members During Monday’s Episode of ‘The Voice’
Blake Shelton begged, pleaded and insulted his fellow coaches to woo contestants during Monday night's (Feb. 13) episode of 'The Voice' on NBC. He added three new team members, including Erin Willett, a 22-year-old from Gaithersburg, Md.
She was the first new member of Team Blake, joining after singing a hot rendition of Jackson 5's 'I Want You Back. “You have a great voice, the crowd loves you,” Shelton said. “You’re on my team whether you like it or not!”
Rocker Brian Fuente also chose Team Blake, but viewers only got to see a snippet of his audition during a montage near the end of the episode. Following the show, Shelton gave a shout out to all of his new students on Twitter, but left Fuente out until the end because unfortunately, he's not a hot girl. "Oh sh--!!!!! I almost forgot about my boy @BFuente!!! Team Blake!! Ha! Ha! That's what he gets for not being a hot girl!!!," Shelton tweeted.
The 'Drink on It' singer closed the show by winning a battle over the the night's most sought after singer, 29-year-old Jordis Unga. Prior to that, the country coach was on the losing end of a number of other battles with Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green. “So in other words, Cee Lo would like you to be an experiment on his team,” Shelton quipped after the folksy Sarah Golden finished. She chose Green.
“How would you like be on a team with hardly any guys?” he asked 19-year-old Pip, who chose Levine after singing 'House of the Rising Sun.'
“Your smile is contagious,” Shelton told Erin Martin. “Even Christina’s smiling, and she never smiles!” Green ultimately landed the former model, and spent time stroking his evil white cat, reveling in a victory with a sly smile on his face.
Unga was last. The Minnesotan with the adorable mother wowed the mentor's with Paul McCartney's 'Maybe I'm Amazed.' Only Levine didn't turn around, and afterward he felt foolish. "(You're) type of singer that makes me excited about what I do," Shelton said before playing his trump card. Dia Frampton, his finalist from 2011, is currently on tour with him, something he hinted he'd be willing to do again after this season.
Unga, a punk-rocker, agonized about her choice for a moment and settled. “Christina, I’m so sorry, I love you -- I have to go with Blake. He picked me first!” Add three new members to to Team Shelton.
