Toby Keith is getting ready to add liquor maker to his ongoing list of career accomplishments. The 'Stays in Mexico' and 'Good to Go to Mexico' singer is gearing up to release Toby Keith's Wild Shot Mezcal, a 100 percent green agave spirit, with importers Shaw-Ross.

Keith says he's "always been fascinated" by Mexico and mezcal. Mezcal is considered to a cousin of Mexico’s most famous liquor, tequila. With its smokier flavor, mezcal is typically drank straight instead of in mixed drinks.

“The tradition and history of mezcal is magical to me, and dates back to 16th century warriors celebrating the defeat of their enemies,” Keith says.

Keith and the team behind Wild Shot are sticking to tradition by making sure each bottle comes with a worm at the bottom. “It’s not there for the look,” he explains. “It is there to be eaten. It is believed that the worm will bring wondrous experiences and every individual’s will be different. There is a void in the market place in getting this drink to the average person, so it seemed natural for me to start a business selling Toby Keith Mezcal.”

Keith will host a kick-off event for Wild Shot Mezcal in Nashville on March 3.
