Route 91 Harvest Festival Victims to Be Honored With Tribute at Grammy Awards
The 2018 Grammy Awards will feature a heartfelt tribute to the victims of the mass shooting that took place at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in October of 2017.
Eric Church, Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne will take the stage during music's biggest night to pay tribute to the 58 people who were killed during the shooting rampage, which took place on the third and final night of the Las Vegas festival during a headlining set from Jason Aldean. All three artists performed at the festival prior to the shooting.
Grammy Awards Executive producer Ken Ehrlich tells the Associated Press the artists will perform a classic Grammy-winning song. The exact song has not yet been announced. "We considered a number of songs. We wanted something that is universal. We wanted something that spoke to the subject, which certainly this song does," he says. "When you listen to the lyric, this one certainly stood out."

"Mass shootings, they happen every year, unfortunately,” Church reflects. "But this year was a little bit unique in that you had two happen at music events and one of those was the largest mass shooting in U.S. history. It’s been a tragic year."
Morris says it's only appropriate that artists who were there at the festival should lead the Route 91 Harvest Festival tribute at the Grammy Awards.
"It reinforces even more the strength of music and the community that we all share together, artists and fans alike," she states.
The 2018 Grammy Awards are set to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Jan. 28, and will air live on CBS at 7:30PM ET.
