Adele Nods to Dolly Parton With Retro Suit and Big Blonde Wig: ‘A Hero of My Life’
Two legends, one body ... mind-blowing! Adele dressed head-to-toe in a Dolly Parton costume is basically a carbon copy of the country legend.
Fans were thrilled when the big-voiced pop star shared a photo of herself in country garb on Instagram. Dressed in a retro rhinestone and feathered pink jacket with matching peach pants and a blonde wig, she's pretty convincing, and Adele completed her look with a guitar in hand and vibrant stage makeup.
It's not clear why she's dressed up as the country icon — perhaps simply to honor Parton as she expresses her endless admiration for her. "The effortless queen of song, Dolly Parton! We love you! We wish We could possess an ounce of your ability," Adele writes in the caption. "You were the hero of our night! A hero of my life. I'll always love you x."
Parton returned the love, writing in the comments "And I will always love you!"
The Most Unforgettable Dolly Parton Moments
This marks another occasion where the global superstar has shared her love for the genre. Adele teamed up with Darius Rucker in 2010 to perform a rendition of Lady Antebellum's massive hit, "Need You Now," during the CMT Artists of the Year event in Nashville. She attributes the trio's hit to giving her the inspiration to pen "Don't You Remember" off her groundbreaking album, 21, saying the track has a "country tinge" to it.
"What gave me the courage to try to do that musically was 'Need You Now,'" Adele tells CMT about the song. "When I was in the studio in Malibu, this was the last song I wrote while I was recording, and “Need You Now” was everywhere. You could not even change your radio station without it being played. You couldn’t escape it and, luckily, I loved it! (laughs) Or it would have been awful! But the feeling the song gave me, I was trying to channel it in my own song." Chris Stapleton also has a cut on Adele's 21 album titled "If It Hadn't Been for Love."
