It's been a staple in America since 1985, the $1.50 hot dog and soda combo at Costco.

But recently, there have been rumors that the new management at Costco was going to raise the price of said combo.

Is Costco Getting Rid of the $1.50 Hot Dog?

It's one of the last all-American things to not face an inflation price hike: the 1/4-pound all-beef hot dog, with a soda that comes with refills — all for just $1.50.

However, when the former CFO, Richard Galanti, was asked about the possible price change in an interview with Bloomberg, he said, "It's probably safe for a while" — which kind of feels like something your dad would tell you about standing on a deck that he just built by hand from a YouTube tutorial.

Costco's new CFO, Gary Millerchip, however, gave us all that warm and fuzzy feeling when he went above and beyond to make sure everyone knew that the $1.50 hot dog combo at Costco is staying put.

It almost felt like an after-game press conference as Millerchip stepped up to the mic and made this declaration:

"To clear up some recent media speculation, I also want to confirm the $1.50 hot dog price is safe."

This might not seem like a huge deal for a multi-billion-dollar company, but they actually lose money on every hot dog combo they sell.

But the theory is that if they can use the combo to get people into the doors, it pays off in the end because they tend to spend money when they are in the store.

A membership to Costco costs about $5 per month. If you do the math, especially if you have a family to feed, you pretty much are saving money on dinners if you go for the hot dog combo once or twice a week.
