Before Bette Midler made 'Wind Beneath My Wings' famous in the late 80s, country singer Gary Morris put out an incredibly emotional country version of the intense love song. Released in 1983, Morris' addition to the Top 100 Country Love Songs hit No. 4 on the country charts, and rose to No. 10 on the Canadian RPM Country charts.

'Wind Beneath My Wings' was the perfect song to showcase Morris' incredible country tenor. The song appeared on the singer's 'Why Lady Why' album, which featured three other charting singles. A few years after 'Wind Beneath My Wings' and several other songs achieved critical success, Morris released one more country album and then turned to Gospel music.
