Miranda Lambert, Trace Adkins and Martina McBride have joined the already impressive list of country stars who will be performing on various nights during the 2011 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which is scheduled for March 1-20, 2011.

The trio will join previously announced performers Sugarland, Brad Paisley and the Zac Brown Band.  The three-week event takes place at Reliant Stadium, home of the NFL's Houston Texans.

In addition to the music, the 79th annual edition of the festivities features a rodeo parade, a Bar-B-Que contest, a livestock exhibition and the "calf scramble,'' where kids between the ages 14 and 18 attempt to capture and harness calves that have been set free in order to win a beef heifer. The winners spend the next year raising the animal in order to exhibit at next year's event.

Reportedly, over 2.1 million people attended the 2010 Rodeo, eating 100,000 funnel cakes and more importantly, raising millions of dollars for scholarships and other educational programs.  Since the first show in 1932, the Rodeo has generated over $265 million for the youth of Texas.

Many more artists are expected to be added to this roster; the complete schedule will be announced in early January.
