Janice Freeman. who competed on The Voice's Season 13 in 2017, has died at the age of 33. A post on the singer's Instagram stories written by her team informed fans that she passed on Saturday (March 2) after suffering pneumonia and a blood clot that had traveled to her heart.

According to the statement, Freeman's husband attempted to give her CPR before she was taken to hospital in an ambulance; she died shortly after. Freeman had a long history of struggling with serious health issues, including cancer, lupus, and meningitis, which she occasionally documented details of fighting on her social media accounts.

Freeman was on Miley Cyrus’ team, ultimately placing in the Top 11. During her Blind Auditions, the singer managed to make both Cyrus and coach Jennifer Hudson spin their chairs around with a roaring, powerful version of Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive."

 

Cyrus responded to the news of Freeman's death on her Instagram stories, posting a photo of a rainbow and saying simply, "Thank you, @JaniceFreeman...for everything. This represents you perfectly."

Hudson also gave condolences on Instagram, saying, "The voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all!"

Freeman is survived by her husband Dion and a 12-year-old daughter.
