Lauren Alaina: ‘I Think Me and Scotty Should Be Nominated for Best Onscreen Kiss’

Some topics in pop culture won't die, and the smooch between 'American Idol' winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina, which took place when McCreery was announced as the victor last May, is one of those very topics.

Just when you thought the chatter about the relationship between these two southern, Christian, country music singing teens was barely hovering above a whisper, Alaina herself turned up the volume and resurrected the discussion about just how close she and McCreery really are.

Alaina posted a tweet about the kiss, suggesting that it is award-worthy: "I think me and Scotty should be nominated for best on screen kiss at the teen choice awards! Haha. If that's a category!" It's actually an official MTV Movie Awards category, Lauren, but we like how you think. If there is anything that that kiss deserves, it's an award. It's one of the most talked about kisses in the pop-country music genre in quite some time.

Twitter has quickly become a favored domain of Alaina. Not only did she post a photo of her bruised and battered ankle from the American Idols Live Tour, but she also encouraged her mother to open a Twitter account, on which she will post a series of photos of her daughter. Lest we forget that conversation starting photo of McCreery sandwiched between Alaina and 'Idol' contestant Pia Toscano, which Alaina also tweeted.

We're thinking McCreery and Alaina will be linked for life. Whether or not they become a couple (and admit it) is anyone's guess.
