Don't be fooled by the title. Luke Bryan's new single "Fast" takes its time telling a grown man's story.

"Fast" is part nostalgia, part love story. Both parts fit the 40-year-old singer well. More and more, Bryan is at his best when he's reflecting on the wild highs and lows of his life. Even when he's not a co-writer (as in the hit song "Drink a Beer"), Bryan is able to inject his personal experiences into song.

That comes easy on "Fast," a song he did write. Rodney Clawson and Luke Laird lend a hand with lyrics that are sure to compel men to hold their women tight as he's singing it live in 2017. One imagines a sold out crowd swaying back and forth during the singalong. The song is the sixth single from Kill the Lights, but hardly a gimmick to keep him on the radio while he prepares something new. "Fast" has real heart.

Did You Know?: Only one Luke Bryan single has failed to go Gold or Platinum: his last single "Move." It's likely that song will do so soon.

Luke Bryan, "Fast" Lyrics:

"Fast / That's the kind of car you wanna drive when you're sixteen / Fast / That's the kind of boys that you want on your home team / Fast / Yeah, you think you're gonna catch your big dreams just like that / Fast / And here you are, looking back."

Chorus:
"Sixty seconds now feels more like thirty / Tick-tock, won't stop, and 'round it goes / Sand through the glass sure falls in a hurry / And all you keep trying to do is slow it down / Soak it in, keep trying to make the good times last as long as you can . But you can't, man / It just goes too fast."

"Fast / That's what your parents said when we were falling in love / Is too fast / There ain't no way the two of us were ever going to last / But we did, and here we are, and our only problem is."

"Looking at you looking out the window right now / Those eyes, that dress, that smile, that laugh / If I could hit pause I would somehow / But it don't work like that."
