Stewart-Haas Racing Is Shutting Down After 2024 NASCAR Season

There has been some speculation in the past year or so that Stewart-Haas racing was possibly dismantling, and now the reality has officially set in.

In short, Stewart-Haas has won enough races and created the culture and the friendships and helped the careers of its racers as much as it ever deemed possible, and it is now time to pass the proverbial torch.

How Are Fans Reacting to Stewart-Haas Racing Shutting Down?

Of course, when one of the best shuts down, people have something to say. Some fans are not too happy about it, while other are heaping praise.

One NASCAR fan writes, "Best wishes to Tony and Gene for the future. NASCAR has not done right by their fans for many years. The only constant is change but when it is bad change it hurts the sport."

Other fans are supportive of the move. One writes, "Hate to read this but we all knew it was coming. Tony has a new life and it is time he just enjoys his wife and maybe child (some day). This will give others time to find jobs hopefully."

How Did NASCAR Drivers React to Stewart-Haas Racing Shutting Down?

One of Stewart-Haas' winningest drivers, Kevin Harvick, commented on the news of the team's imminent shutdown.

Harvick said:

"It's unbelievable to me, really, that we went from forever, to forward, to for sale."

Another one of Stewart-Haas' racers, Cole Custer, learned of the news and then turned to social media to comment.

Custer said, "Pretty heart breaking to see. The stretch that Tony, Gene, and everyone at SHR had was extremely impressive."

The 2023 Xfinity Cup Champion continued, "We’re gonna fight the rest of the year to finish strong."

There's no official word yet, but the rumor is that Stewart-Haas' four charters will be split up and sold to different existing NASCAR teams. One being 23XI Racing, which is co-owned by Michael Jordan, and another is reportedly Trackhouse Racing, co-owned by rapper Pitbull.
