Taylor Swift Predicted She’d Write ‘Shake It Off’ Way Back in 2008
Former country sensation Taylor Swift received three Grammy nominations for her hit single "Shake it Off," and although she didn't ultimately win in any of the categories on Sunday night (Feb. 8), she did walk away with a different surprise.
While chatting with Swift on the red carpet, radio/television personality Ryan Seacrest revealed that he had an interesting clip of something she had said all the way back in 2008.
"We were talking about breakups, and you said something that I actually couldn't believe you said," Seacrest recounted as Swift tried to guess what he could be talking about. He then played the tape, in which he asked a much younger Swift how she responded to failed relationships.
"You learn. You really do. And it's like, I'm ... I'm just trying to shake it off," she answered in the video from 2008.
When watching the tape, even Swift was shocked to see that she's staked her claim on the phrase nearly seven years ago.
"That's wild," she told Seacrest at the Grammys, laughing. "I guess I just used to say that a lot." "Shake It Off" was the lead single from Swift's latest album, 1989.
However, that wasn't the only strange thing to come from the 2015 Grammy Awards. After reuniting with Kanye West and making up following the famed stage crashing incident from the MTV VMAs, Swift is said to actually be recording with the rapper.
"Yeah, she wants to get in the studio and we’re definitely going to go in," West tells Seacrest a few days after seeing Swift. "Any artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fanbase, I’m down to get in the studio and work. I don’t discriminate."
