Thomas Rhett's highly anticipated album Life Changes dropped on Sept. 8, and while fans are abound to have their personal favorite songs, his wife Lauren has a few of her own too.

"Most of them are Lauren approved," Rhett tells Taste of Country Nights of the songs on his new album. "She likes all of the songs, but there are ones that she loves."

Two of her favorites are "Sixteen" and "Sweetheart, because "I guess they strike a chord with her that she can't really describe," Rhett says.

Rhett's Life Changes has been a "work in progress" over the past couple years, while he's been going through, well, life changes. He wrote 10 of the project's 14 songs on his tour bus. But the superstar singer stepped out of his comfort zone for a track called "Leave Right Now," inspired by EDM superstars the Chainsmokers. "I really wanted to write a song that had a drop," he explains, adding that he got to meet the duo's Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall backstage at the Billboard Music Awards. "They're really really great people," he says — and "super chill."

Rhett and wife Lauren adopted Willa Gray from Uganda in May of 2017, which was soon followed by the birth of daughter Ada James on Aug. 12.
