Trace Adkins Weighs in on Donald Trump’s Presidential Bid

Trace Adkins has worked with Donald Trump for several seasons on Celebrity Apprentice, so it comes as no surprise that many people want to know his thoughts on the businessman running for president.

"People ask me all the time, 'What's up with Trump?' Like I know, like he calls me, asking me what I think," Adkins tells Michigan radio station WIN 98.5. "But he doesn’t. I think we’re in a very serious place in the history of this country and we need to take it pretty seriously, and I think he does. But I don’t think anybody else takes him seriously, so he’s having to deal with that."

Adkins goes on to explain that the fact that Trump isn't afraid to speak his mind openly and honestly is why the candidate has seen so much success.

"We’re not used to politicians talking like that, answering questions with their actual feelings and what they actually think about something," he says. "It’s just foreign to us. We don’t hear politicians talk like that."

While Adkins isn't sure what the presidential outcome will be, he says trying something different — a businessman like Trump — may not be a bad idea.

"I think we ought to try a businessman running the show for awhile. I mean, nothing else has worked," he asserts. "The whole thing has just gotten — I mean, it’s just really hard to take any of it seriously right now. It’s just so crazy, just the way this whole campaign in all respects has just gotten a little silly from time to time."
