Blake Shelton has released his duet with girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" finds the couple in an "I dare you" kind of love, with each offering a fragile heart to the other.

Shelton has promised much of his upcoming If I'm Honest album will be personal, and this song fits — to an extent. He knows well what if feels like to have a shattered heart, although as far as fans know, Stefani has never even bruised it. During "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" Shelton sings about rekindling a romance that's gone cold, even though he knows that doing so will cause heartache the next morning.

Stefani's verse is equally hesitant. She can't decide if she wants to let herself fall so deeply in love again. They sing from different perspectives, but come together with the same idea in the chorus of "Go Ahead and Break My Heart."

While not a radio single, the uptempo country love song is available at iTunes. Shelton's If I'm Honest will be available in full for fans on May 20. This is the fourth song fans have heard, following "Came Here to Forget," "Savior's Shadow" and "Friends." Scott Hendricks returns to produce If I'm Honest.

Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" Lyrics:

Blake Shelton: “The sun is setting on your last good try / Here I am again with half a goodbye / Wonder if you’re really gone this time / Just when I’m about to lose my mind / There you are again on my phone / Moon is risin’ and you’re all alone / Maybe we could just hang awhile / Maybe we can make each other smile.”

“Oh no / Here I go.”

Chorus (both sing):
“Why don’t you go ahead and break my heart / Why are you waiting, is it way too hard / If moving on is what you want to do / Why don’t you do it / Why don’t you do it baby / You can’t tell me baby that we’ll still be friends / That maybe someday we can try again / If you really need a brand new start / Why don’t you go ahead and break my heart.”

Gwen Stefani: “I never ever meant to get so into you / Thought I was using you just to get me through / You know I’m broken, I don’t trust anyone / Last thing I needed was to fall in love / You got me dreaming, got me thinking I’ve got some hope / There is nobody else I wanna get to know / But I’m so scared I don’t know what to do / How did you get me so into you.”

“There’s your reasons / There’s your cards / What are you waiting for / Go on and break my heart.”
