Blake Shelton Co-Hosting Hurricane Harvey Telethon in Nashville
Blake Shelton has signed on to co-host the Nashville portion of an upcoming Hurricane Harvey benefit spearheaded by actor Jamie Foxx.
Dozens of people have been reported dead after Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas, devastating the area especially in and around Houston, where massive flooding has caused thousands of residents to leave their flooded homes and seek shelter and assistance.
According to TMZ, Shelton will join Reese Witherspoon to co-host the Nashville portion of a Hurricane Harvey telethon, with Michael Strahan also committed to the project. The four major broadcast networks have agreed to air the telethon for an hour on Sept. 12.
Foxx announced his plans for the telethon in a post to Instagram on Wednesday (Aug. 30). The actor, who hails from Terrell, Texas, announced he was personally donating $25,000 to GlobalGiving, adding, "From a fellow Texan, my heart goes out. My prayers go out. September 12 we have a telethon that we're doing. We'll give you more details, so we can raise as much money as we can for everybody down there."
