Carrie Underwood often has a jam-packed schedule, but this summer she’s hoping to take a few days to get away with her family. The singer says she would love to take a family vacation with husband Mike Fisher and son Isaiah sometime soon.

"I think we're going to try and take a vacation this year," she tells Extra. "It's been a couple of years since we've gone anywhere, so we deserve that. We just like to relax. Give us a beach somewhere, a lake, we're good, we're easy to please."

She adds that even though Isaiah has two busy parents with not-so-average jobs, she strives to keep a sense of regular childhood for him.

"I'm always looking up baby-friendly things to do in wherever we are… he loves being outside,” she shares. "I want him to have childhood normalcy... We take him down to the pools, and the hotels and let him splash around because a kid would do that."

One day, Underwood even has something in particular in mind she’d like them to do together.

"I have some future plans for an RV [trip] for sure...,” she says, adding, "We will be taking some summer drives."

Isaiah celebrated his first birthday in February, which would make these little trips even more fun to take him on as he grows older. Some things have become a little more difficult since having a little one, though, like mom trying to blow-dry her hair. Hence, the short ‘do.

"Life is easier," she said. "I love long hair, but I would be blowing my hair and Isaiah would be tugging on my pants like, 'Pick me up', and I would hold him and blow my hair dry, and I'm like, 'This is just ridiculous. What can I do in my life to just kind of streamline things and make things easier?'"

Underwood picks up some dates with Keith Urban later this year in Australia and New Zealand, but for now she’s wrapped her own Storyteller Tour. In the mean time she's keeping busy with family life and other projects, like helping with the ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp.
