David Lee Murphy and Kenny Chesney have taken home Musical Event of the Year in the 2018 CMA Awards.

The win was announced on Wednesday morning (Nov. 14) during the broadcast of Good Morning America, just hours before the biggest stars in country music will take the stage live at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena for the annual ceremony that's billed as Country Music's Biggest Night.

They beat out a slate of nominees that included "Burning Man" by Dierks Bentley with Brothers Osborne, Maren Morris and Vince Gill's collaboration on "Dear Hate," "Drowns the Whiskey" from Jason Aldean with Miranda Lambert and "Meant to Be" from Bebe Rehxa with Florida Georgia Line.

Murphy co-wrote "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" with Jimmy Yeary and Chris Stevens, and he released it as the first single from his No Zip Code album in November of 2017. It reached No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, giving Murphy his first chart-topper since "Dust on the Bottle" in 1995. The award for Musical Event of the Year marks Murphy's first-ever CMA Awards win.

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are teaming to co-host the CMA Awards for the 11th consecutive year in 2018. The ceremony airs live on Wednesday night at 8PM ET on ABC.
