Ryan Reynolds is the ultimate jokester and recently he and Rob McElhenney tricked Dolly Parton into promoting his new docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham. He shared the video on social media and although she was technically in on the entire thing, it's still a fun back and forth between the country legend and the men behind the project.

Parton opens the video chatting about her recent announcement about discovering she may have Welsh ancestry.

"I was tickled to learn that, and I was even more tickled when I received a lovely gift from the Welsh Board of Tourism and Docudramas," she starts.

The gift was a scarf from the Wrexham Association Football Club and they also sent along a few words for the "9 to 5" singer to read about Wales. As it turns out, those "words" were actually a promo for the docuseries.

"All episodes of Welcome to Wrexham are now streaming," she begins reading before catching on to what's really happening.

That's when the screen splits into three and Reynolds and McElhenney join the conversation and confess to their ploy in getting her to push their project. Parton easily recognizes McElhenney, but feigns ignorance over who the other guy is.

What is Welcome to Wrexham?

Welcome to Wrexham tells the enchanting story of Reynolds and McElhenney and their purchase of Wrexham AFC. The professional football club is one of the oldest teams in the world. The series follows the team as well as the actors' stewardship of the franchise.

The series launched in 2022 and is currently in its third season, with a fourth installment expected in 2025. Fans can watch on FX or stream it on Hulu.

Does Dolly Parton Really Have Welsh Ancestry?

Parton shared her ancestral discovery earlier this year saying she is "tickled pink" to learn about her Welsh roots. Her history will be revealed in full in a documentary that is expected to arrive later this year. Her niece Jada Star says it's likely that Parton's mother's side — the Owens family — has roots in Wales.
