Jacob Davis doesn't believe in one-night stands. He believes in something real. That’s what he depicts in the new video for "What I Wanna Be."

He’s actually not the leading man in the scenes (he's already found this kind of love with his wife in real life). Davis provides the soundtrack with his upbeat, groovy tune, performing in New Orleans bar Bamboula’s, as two people fall in love, slow and steady.

Rather than portraying a man hitting on a girl in a bar and going home with her, the video shows a relationship as it actually develops into something meaningful, reflecting the genuine sentiment of the song. The leading man does ask the woman out and walks her home, but instead of going inside, he says goodnight. Presumably the next day, they spend time together walking around the city, riding bikes, sipping iced coffee and talking — the way true relationships grow — until they finally kiss at the end.

Davis smiles as he shakes his hips and sings the charming tune in the bar, laying the perfect foundation for the story being told. “What I Wanna Be” is his debut single after signing with Black River Entertainment last year. The artist is actually a Louisiana native, so the video’s location hits home for him. He used to work on an oil rig before coming to Nashville to pursue music, where he had to secretly make industry connections while working at a golf pro shop. It paid off, though. On top of the mounting success of his single so far, he’s about to go on the road with Chase Rice this fall as part of his Lambs and Lions tour, and Taste of Country chose him as one of our RISERS for 2017.
