Jason Aldean may have started out small during his 2015 ACM Awards performance, but he went out with a bang — literally.

The country hitmaker began on a small stage alone, singing his new single, "Tonight Looks Good on You," a sweet and sincere love song which is a bit of a departure for the rowdy artist who’s no stranger to a party. The song wound down and things really kicked off as Aldean made his way down a catwalk to a much larger stage, where a full band was waiting to rock out.

Aldean continued his medley with "My Kinda Party," the leadoff single from his 2010 album of the same name, which he delivered with intensity, brooding from underneath his cowboy hat as he strummed his acoustic. Just when you though he was done, the artist threw off the guitar and did the audience one better, adding in a few bars of his first single, "Hicktown" for good measure before launching into "She’s Country," all the while upping the ante just a bit with some pyrotechnics and flame-covered big screens blazing behind him. The explosive performance was capped off with a microphone on flambé, and Aldean looking cool as ever.

Aldean is up for both Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year at this year's ACM Awards.
