Kacey Musgraves Simmers on ‘Colbert’ With ‘Slow Burn’ [Watch]
Musgraves was pitch perfect as she delivered the mellow tune, dazzling the Late Show audience with her pure voice and beautiful lyrics. The song is gentle as a breeze and finds the singer not in any rush, as she slowly soaks in the world around her and the life lessons that follow. Soft background vocals, gentle guitar and a cello help carry the humble song, offering pieces of her autobiography as she proclaims "Born in a hurry, always late / Haven't been early since '88 / Texas is hot, I can be cold / Grandma cried when I pierced my nose."
"I'm alright with a slow burn / Taking my time, let the world turn / I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright / If we burn it down and it takes all night / It's a slow burn," she sings hauntingly.
"Slow Burn" is the first track on Golden Hour, Musgraves' powerful new project that features the strikingly honest "Space Cowboy," doting "Butterflies" and multifaceted "High Horse."
"It was replenishingly transformational, magical, trippy, emotional, and FUN making this piece of music with my dear friends," she says of the album in an Instagram post. She's taking her new song on the road on her international Oh, What a World Tour in the fall of 2018, which will begin with several European dates throughout the month of October, taking the star to England, Scotland, Ireland and the Netherlands.
