Kacey Musgraves

It's just as well that Kacey Musgraves didn't attract that much attention during her run on 'Nashville Star' in 2007. The then 18-year-old placed seventh, and that gave her more time to develop into one of the most unique singer-songwriters in contemporary country music, honing a style that combines rootsy instrumentation with a one-of-a-kind lyrical sensibility that made her 2013 debut album, 'Same Trailer, Different Park,' one of the most acclaimed country albums in years. The album debuted at No. 1 and was certified Gold, and scored a Top 10 hit with its first single, "Merry Go 'Round." Musgraves' controversial third single was "Follow Your Arrow," which took a no-big-deal approach to marijuana and same-sex relationships, and though it did not catch on at radio, it won a CMA Award for Song of the Year, and 'Same Trailer' took home a Grammy for Best Country Album. Musgraves' second major label album, 'Pageant Material' is one of the most anticipated projects of 2015.
