Miranda Lambert Drops Details on 'Postcards From Texas' Album

After teasing something big in the works earlier this week, Miranda Lambert has officially announced that her ninth major-label studio album, Postcards From Texas, is on its way.

The 14-song collection will find Lambert immersed in the music of her home state, beginning with a couple of tracks she's already released — "Wranglers" and "Dammit Randy" — and continuing with the newly-out studio version of her buzzy new track, "Alimony."

The singer teased her project, appropriately enough, by mailing out postcards with song title teases. That's a trick she's pulled before gearing up to the release of the Pistol Annies album Interstate Gospel, but this time around, she made sure to emphasize the new album's Texas connection.

"On my last album, I was traveling," read the backs of the cards. "On my newest album, each song is a letter from home."

The track list is proof that Lambert's leaning on some other country music figures from her home state. Not only does it feature contributions from Texan songwriters like Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, but it also includes a duet with Parker McCollum called "Santa Fe."

The final track on Postcards From Texas is a David Allan Coe cover called "Living on the Run," which originally appeared on Coe's Longhaired Redneck album in 1976.

Postcards From Texas is due out on Sept. 13. It's Lambert's first full-length project since departing Sony, her label home of 20 years, and moving to Republic Records.
