Kelsea Ballerini Brings Playful ‘Yeah Boy’ to 2017 ACM Awards Stage
Kelsea Ballerini brought her infectious sense of fun to the stage at the 2017 ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 2), singing her current single, "Yeah Boy."
The breakout star wore a clingy pink sparkled one-piece bodysuit that showed off her legs as she sang, beaming with joy at the sheer melodic fun of her own performance, which brings her back to the roots of her debut hit, "Love Me Like You Mean It," after taking a turn for the more serious with "Peter Pan," the third single from her smash debut album, The First Time.
Ballerini was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year in the ACMs. She is currently working on her sophomore album, which she says will turn away somewhat from the kind of fun pop that characterized her first project.
Ballerini has a lot to celebrate on a personal level, too. During the Christmas holidays, she announced that she had gotten engaged to singer-songwriter Morgan Evans, whom she met when they co-hosted an awards show last March.
“This morning, 9 months and 13 days later, he got down on one knee in the kitchen while I was burning pancakes and asked me to marry him. Loving him has been the greatest gift of my life. And now I get to do it for life," she wrote.
