Lil Nas X Has Released a Wrangler Collab and Reactions Are Mixed
What's the best way for an artist to get the attention of a clothing company in 2019?
Sing about it, like Lil Nas X!
"My life is a movie / Bull ridin' and boobies / Cowboy hat from Gucci / Wrangler on my booty."
These lyrics from Lil Nas X's controversial crossover hit "Old Town Road" haven't landed him a cowboy hat deal with Gucci (yet), but they were good enough for the country rapper to form a collaboration with Wrangler — to mixed reactions.
Fans went off after Wrangler posted an Instagram photo of the new "Wrangler Lil Nas X Collection," AKA capsule collection, on Monday (May 20). The denim fashion is a literal interpretation of Lil Nas X's lyrics, with some designs having Wrangler written across the back pockets (on the booty) and others that showcase a Wrangler tag above the words "on my booty," tattooed on the back right pocket.

It didn't take long for a slew of negative reactions to ring out in the Instagram comments:
"Really? Supporting an artist that is so clearly mocking country music and the lifestyle it represents? Bad move wrangler." - neennerd
"Seriously man? All I’ve ever worn is Wranglers and this is the company that makes the same jeans I weld in? Quite the shame. Good lord." - jonathandl.10
"Wow. Wrangler sellin’ out for a dollar on the books. Can’t say I’m surprised. Whatever bandwagon people can jump on to make a buck." - darksidesmiley
However, there were others that came to Wrangler and Lil Nas X's rescue, supporting the new line:
"They are so angry jeez! Ah well folks, Im definitely getting all the men in my family a pair! Thanks @wrangler! And dont worry these folks mad right now will be alright. They just in their feelings as usual." - sixfigurestiff
"Love this! Haven't bought Wrangler in years but I'll def be buying a pair!" - marymayhem_
"I'm about to go put some on my booty!" - kinglamb23
Fan reactions aside, Lil Nas X still certainly has everyone's attention.
